On Reading

I've recently taken to reading on my phone again. It's mostly been other people's blogs, and it's nice to read like this. I don't have some sort of super new phone, I'm rocking a Samsung Galaxy A series, not even an S. But reading text in this way has very much improved my reading overall.

I used to be a big reader as a kid; I don't think i knew anyone who read faster than I did. I had a brief stint with a Kindle too, a Kindle Fire that I got for Christmas, but I later gave that up(Amazon can't make good tech).

I've done a huge detox over the past few months. I had an incident about being without internet and went cold turkey on everything, Instagram, YouTube(the mobile app), TikTok; it made me really understand how much time I was spending on my phone. Cutting down the items that I don't use has also been a big thing on my mind recently; I regained 99GB of storage from my M1 Macbook Air recently and I haven't stopped telling anyone about it. I did this using CCleaner and it was brilliant, I didn't know, or realise how much crap there was on my system and it really makes me happier knowing that I'm not wasting all of this power.

The switch to RSS feeds has been nice. I was debating it for ages but then bit the bullet after downloading Thunderbird; I've been using the inbuilt RSS reader and it's neat. I'm hoping Thunderbird for Android also gets the same functionality, hopefully with some sort of syncing feature, it would be really good to read blogposts on my phone like that too.
